About the role

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join the Court of Protection finances team within our Private Client department.

We will consider applicants who will be looking to progress onto becoming a Solicitor. This is a great opportunity for those who demonstrate the skills, commitment and potential to progress within the firm.

This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality level advice while contributing to the firm’s reputation for excellence in client service. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced fee earners, assisting with and managing a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters within the Private Client department including;

  • Managing files under the supervision of a fee earner
  • Attending meetings and home visits as required
  • Establishing initial client contact, while providing guidance on procedures
  • Opening new files in line with the Office Manual
  • Supporting fee earners in the general conduct of cases, including filing, drafting documents and photocopying
  • Liaising with clients, case managers, local authorities and protected parties
  • Preparing applications to the Court of Protection
  • Assisting with the management of financial affairs of protected parties
  • Maintaining regular contact with clients via telephone, email and correspondence
  • Preparing files for submission to the costs draftsman and the SCCO
  • Staying up to date with developments in law and tax regulations

Candidate Requirements:

We are looking for applicants who have the below qualifications and who can demonstrate:

Essential:

  • Experience in Court of Protection finances work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage sensitive client relationships
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Professional, pro-active and client-focused approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car

Hours: This is a full time role, however part time hours will be considered.

Location: Choice to work from Burnley or Preston Office in a Hybrid role.
