Our client has received £30,000 in damages, following a successful claim against a GP who delayed an urgent dermatological referral for suspected skin cancer by three years. We know the importance of fighting for our clients rights and a competent GP would have re-evaluated the pigmented lesion using the 7-point weighted checklist, and failing to do so breached the duty of care.
With proper care, a timely referral would likely have identified the lesion as benign, preventing the need for a wide 25 cm excision and an unnecessary sentinel node biopsy.
